All I need is a sheet of paper and something to write with, and then I can turn the world upside down. - Friedrich Nietzsche
With globalisation, the rise of small businesses, and a tsunami of social media, the written word is king.
I'd like to assist you with health communication - whether that be:
a public health campaign
increasing awareness and hence engagement with your service or organisation
health education / information for consumers such as patient resources
health and wellness articles for your website
newsletters for your organisation or clinic
articles covering healthcare in the news
blogs to address the needs of your patients or clients
bridging the gap between doctor and patient
My Medical Background
Trained at the University of Manchester, I’ve worked as a GP both in the U.K. and Australia with 20 years of clinical experience. As a family physician, I have a wide understanding of health / wellness and medicine, and wish to see more of a patient-centred approach in all aspects of healthcare.
I'm happy to write about most medical specialties. I have particular interests in mental health, chronic and/or complex medical issues, women’s health, patient advocacy and health promotion.
Regarding my writing experience, I’ve ghost-written health and medical articles, produced web content on my own site www.dralicelam.com and produced patient information leaflets for my patients, so I understand the need for simple terms without losing the detail.
Two of my latest published articles can be found in the Consumers Health Forum of Australia’s biannual newsletter and another for Bipolar Life's monthly newsletter. There are several others on the Articles pages which I think you may find interesting.
Your needs are paramount
It’s important to me to fulfil a client’s specific needs, whether it’s producing content for a webpage, newsletter or magazine. I enjoy brainstorming if you are looking for fresh ideas for your health project or campaign. I will spend time to ensure I meet your preferences such as tone (e.g. friendly or professional), specified keyword usage, audience and deadlines.
What makes a great article?
Health communication has to be great quality, and the consequences of failure can be dire. Here's an article I wrote about patient-centred communication, and here are the basics of any content I will write for you.
HIgh quality content with a strong evidence base
